Bringing Medications to Camp
Project Ember is legally required to collect all medications (both prescription and over-the-counter), as well as vitamins and supplements from campers during the check-in process. The only exception to this rule is for camper’s requiring an Epi-Pen or Albuterol. These two medications are permitted to stay with the camper if desired, but we are happy to collect these medications and make sure that the adult working with your camper has immediate access to them at all times. All other medications will be locked within our health center.
All medications must meet the following criteria:
Be in the original container and not past the expiration date listed
Have a valid prescription with the camper’s name
Have the dosage, frequency, and route clearly indicated
Project Ember cannot administer medications with any modifications to the prescription without a direct clarifying note from the prescribing physician or pharmacy. Please do not divide your camper’s medications among pill organizers or otherwise remove them from their packaging.
If your camper regularly takes OTC medications such as allergy medications, ibuprofen, Pepto-Bismol, etc., please also bring these medications in their original packaging (with dosage information available.) We may only give these medications as indicated on the packaging.
